7 Ways to Keep your Tan Year Round

Along with the summer sun, tans fade over time, and self-tans tend to fade more quickly than real tans. The best way to maintain a tan is to update it weekly. However, there are several other ways you can help preserve your sunless tan all year long.

  1. Always shave and exfoliate your skin before self-tanning. This helps you shed dead skin cells, which can hinder your sunless tanning results.
  2. Don’t shower immediately after you tan. Waiting a few hours allows the tan to set in.
  3. Use a high-quality lotion or moisturize every day. There are several tan-extending lotions on the market, most of which contain DHA to preserve your tan and maintain its uniformity. These are different than tanning lotions and tan accelerators (which can be dangerous), so make sure to inspect the label before you buy.
  4. Avoid the following: toners that contain alcohol or witch hazel, depilatory hair removal products like Nair or Veet, baby oil.
  5. Use a soft washcloth or poof when bathing. Rougher devices, such as loofahs, sponges, scrubbing mitts or brushes, can rub off much of your tan, especially when used daily.
  6. The great irony of self-tanning: hot tubs, saunas, swimming pools, and salt water all do a great deal of damage to a sunless tan. But that’s why many girls self-tan in the first place – to maintain a golden glow when donning that bikini (without damaging their skin). If you want to inflict as little harm as possible to your tan, spend more time beside the pool than in it.
  7. Update your sunless tan at least once a week. As we mentioned before, it’s best way to maintain a perfect bronze without destroying your skin by exposing yourelf to harmful UV-rays.

If you don’t have the time to visit that tanning salon each week to renew your sunless tan, never fear: Luxury on Location Mobile Tanning will bring your tan to you.
